Morrie's message was delivered. The notion that one should stop and smell the roses is a good one, but what Morrie believed was even better: Life is a garden, everything in it is a rose. Take the time to notice and care.
What I learned from Morrie's lecture is that everything in your life is important. Appreciate your family and friends because your life, or theirs, can end in a second. No one knows when they are going to leave this earth so why not take care of it? Say what you need to say and say it as soon as you feel it. You should appreciate others but most importantly appreciate yourself, or rather, who you are. Appreciate your health and home. If anything "unfair" happens to you, just remember that it could be worse. This is your only life so you might as well be comfortable. You cannot change who you are or how your life is. Morrie was dying but he accepted it. He knew there was nothing to cure him, nothing that he or anyone else could do to slow down the process, so he embraced the life he had left in him. Embrace life. What is life? Life is friends and family, life is health and comfort, life is sadness and joy, life is confusing. Life is a once in a life time thing. Embrace it.
